About the Project
This website is a journalistic investigation showing the decline of rural healthcare in Alabama's emergency medical services (EMS) and across the U.S. It contains a long-form written story, video packages for news broadcasts, an audio story, data graphics, other expanded multimedia, and photography. You can find the written, video, and audio stories on the Home page using the menu up top, while the other project elements are located on the Information page.

The site author, Caleb Aguayo, is an aspiring journalist at The University of Alabama. His prior work has been published by the WVUA-23 news station, the Crimson White student-run newspaper, the Communicator university alumni magazine, and on the university's College of Communication and Information Sciences (CC&IS) website. This project will also be adapted into a long-form audio feature for Alabama Public Radio.
